Shelby Daytona Coupe CSX2469

Engineered specifically to beat Ferrari at Le Mans, this car is a high-quality replica commissioned by Carroll Shelby in 1997.

Automotive designer Pete Brock was tasked with shaping a roof to the infamous open top cobra, creating the Shelby Daytona, for maximum speed on the three-mile Mulsanne Straight.

After its completion, CSX 2469 appeared at Laguna Seca with the original six Daytonas, and was subsequently raced at renowned vintage events including the Rolex Monterey Historic and Goodwood.

Aside from replicating the build traits of the six original Daytona coupes, this seventh Daytona was fitted with a 289 Ford V-8 engine topped by four two-barrel Weber carburetors,

a Borg-Warner Super T-10 four-speed transmission, Girling hydraulic disc brakes, an enlarged exhaust system, and a custom-fit roll bar.

While Shelby was noted as driving the Daytona before his passing, a host of other legends have had a turn at the wheel, including Phil Hill, Derek Hill, Derek Bell, John Morton, Danny Sullivan, and Brian Redman.
