April 2022 Featured Car

I had the pleasure of driving a very nice 2020 BMW M2 Competition,

with 17k on the odometer, this past week. Powered by a turbo 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine capable of producing a huge grin on my face. This car is equipped with the six-speed manual and short throws that demand precision guidance for a proper upshift. On downshift, no fancy footwork is needed since the engine will rev match like nobody’s business.

The car can loaf around in sixed gear at just 40mph and care not if you need to stomp on the throttle. It will just pull away smartly without a shutter. The rear tires are a bit small for the 405hp and 406lb-ft of torque but the M2 will hint to you when the back tires are about to break loose as to prevent harm to yourself and the car.

The ride seems very compliant on both city streets and highways for being a Competition model. Massive fifteen-inch rotors front and back bring down the speed with ease in conjunction with a highly boosted brake pedal. This matters because the M2 is capable of speeds up to 175mph. The car’s overall footprint is very similar to my 2003 BMW 330Ci and is just as easy to drive. Car and Driver rated the M2 a 9.5/10 and an editor’s choice. Thanks Josh, for letting me play with your new ride.
