2017 Porsche 911 991.2

This 991.2 is a base model, rear wheel drive, with many options checked when ordered new. This car belongs to my son in law Josh and he graciously allowed me to drive and review it. This the fastest car I have ever driven. I could easily get into some serious trouble if I were to own this car.

All Carrera models were all turbocharged 911s but not 911 Turbos. Throttle response is akin to a 991.1, normally aspirated engine, negating the dreaded turbo lag. Plant the throttle for instant freeway on-ramp acceleration.

Turn the key and this 911 barks to life with its sport tuned exhaust note. Trust me when I say the neighbors look to see where the bark is coming from.

The engine has shrunk to 3.0 liters but gained two turbochargers. 13.1 psi added 20hp (370hp) over the 991.1 naturally aspirated engines. Torque gain of 44lb-ft for a total of 331 in the 1,700-5,000-rpm range.

The Leather wrapped cockpit is very cozy but moving the power seat provides legroom for drivers with long legs. Paddle shifters move through the gears with lightning speed and faster than shifting manually. MotorTrend tested a 991.2 manual and it did 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, 12.3 quarter mile at 114.7 mph.

This 991.2 revs to a spine-tingling 7,500 rpm redline and a Porsche listed top speed of 183 mph. This Porsche comes with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) option, which was previously available at extra cost, as standard.

Nineteen-inch HRE wheels were custom ordered after the stock wheels were damaged from metal debris left in the fast lane. Front tires are 245/40/19 and 305/35/19 rears which are one size larger than stock.
